Assistant Director: Disposal Management
Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government
Job Purpose:
Oversee the management of departmental assets to support infrastructure development goals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Financial Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or Commerce
- 3+ years experience in Finance/Supply Chain Management/Accounting/Auditing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Standard Chart of Accounts (SCOA)
- Valid Code B driver’s license (Candidates with disabilities may apply with proof of transport access)
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement asset management systems and policies
- Develop strategic asset management plans aligned with departmental budgets
- Maintain accurate asset registers and conduct regular verifications
- Manage asset lifecycle planning and cost analysis
- Ensure compliance with PFMA and other regulatory requirements
- Prepare financial reports and reconciliation statements
Required Competencies:
Knowledge of:
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- LOGIS and government accounting systems
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written/verbal communication abilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
