We have an opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager in our Customer Marketing Team. This role supports the Pies category. It is based in Westville and reports to the Category Manager.
As Assistant Category Manager, you will:
- Support the Category Manager to drive category growth.
- Manage projects, analytics, and Go-To-Market initiatives to meet category volume and profit goals.
- Collect and analyse data on customer, category, shopper, and channel performance, trends, and competition.
- Work with internal teams to ensure excellent execution across demand functions.
Minimum Requirements
- A Degree or Diploma in Marketing or Business Management (3 years).
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Valid Code EB driver’s license.
Duties & Responsibilities
Category Planning
- Help with annual business planning by analysing data and finding growth opportunities.
- Develop proposals and recommendations for customers on category projects, including Net Revenue Management initiatives.
- Work with the operations team to implement initiatives smoothly.
Category Management
- Measure and review category performance, margins, and customer profitability.
- Analyse shelf health, pricing, product availability, and visibility. Turn feedback into action plans for the customer team.
- Execute brand standards and support their development.
- Review planograms and ranging regularly to maximise shelf efficiency.
- Monitor the competitor landscape continuously.
- Prepare and analyse category reviews for customers, including assortment, performance, and ranging.
Innovation & Shopper Support
- Help develop new product launch plans.
- Prepare category stories and trade presentations.
- Execute new product launch plans and track progress.
- Ensure all marketing materials follow brand guidelines.
- Build and deliver digital shopper communications to support conversions.
- Provide key customer information to the team.
Information Analysis, Management and Reporting
- Analyse data to give feedback on category performance and suggest actions.
- Compile business reports, presentations, and category analyses, including reasons for deviations, with focus on Net Revenue Management.
Financial Management
- Manage customer marketing budgets and ensure initiatives are commercially sound.
- Execute parts of the Net Revenue Management Program, like promo analysis, to meet targets.
- Understand drivers of profitability and revenue growth to help achieve targets.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Business growth targets – volume, revenue, and profit.
- Execution of customer plans and project KPIs.
- Digital and social metrics.
- Shelf space and product availability.
- Accuracy of reporting.
