As a leader, you will oversee the Maximo maintenance system, work with the operations team, provide quarterly OEE reports, and find ways to improve critical assets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Formal engineering qualifications: BSc Eng, B Eng or equivalent (required).
  • Professional Registration: Registered (or eligible to register) with ECSA (required).

Job Experience

  • 6 years in engineering or infrastructure maintenance management.
  • 3 years in the water sector.
  • 5 years in management.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
  • 10 years in engineering or infrastructure maintenance management (preferred).
  • 10 years in management (preferred).

Primary Duties

  • Lead and manage all section activities to achieve the best lifecycle performance for assets.
  • Develop, prepare, carry out, and manage the section business plan to support the department and division plans.
  • Create and maintain standards and strategies to improve asset performance, availability, maintenance, deterioration rates, and lifespan.
  • Design and implement a full reliability program, including predictive and preventive maintenance, failure analysis, and ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Manage and improve the Maximo maintenance system, ensuring correct data entry, good work order handling, and smooth integration with the reliability program.
  • Work with Electrical, Mechanical, Process, and Civil Reliability Engineers to align strategies, share best practices, and ensure overall system reliability.

Manage Staff and Coordinate with Other Disciplines In:

  • Assessing asset conditions and measuring performance to set standards and schedules.
  • Optimizing and auditing maintenance activities.
  • Turning assessment results into recommendations for projects or maintenance work.
  • Conducting risk assessments on equipment and processes, and creating strategies to reduce risks for each category to build system strength.
  • Using data analytics tools to review performance metrics, reliability data, and equipment health. Prepare reports for improvements in specific categories.
  • Developing and preparing the annual budget for asset management, and handling financial controls.
  • Managing staff growth through performance monitoring, coaching, mentoring, career planning, and succession.
  • Leading investigations into equipment failures or performance issues, including root cause analysis for Electrical, Mechanical, Process, and Civil categories.
  • Guiding technical progress and using the best technology for all asset categories.
  • Managing and monitoring the section’s budget, and taking action on any differences.
  • Providing leadership to reliability and maintenance teams, building a culture of improvement and knowledge sharing. Create training programs for each category’s needs.

  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, such as reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Skills in creating and applying maintenance strategies to cut downtime, lower costs, and extend asset life.
