Purpose of Job

This Turner position will form part of the Centralized Maintenance Function within Sasolburg and Natref Operations. It reports to the Natref Rotating Workshop Manager. This team handles all machining requests for day-to-day running plant maintenance and during shutdowns.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support various maintenance divisions with all their machining and turning job requests. Execution must meet high standards due to criticality and safety requirements.
  • Work in line with quality plans and work procedures.
  • Be skilled in operating lathes, milling machines, key seaters, and similar equipment.

Leadership

  • Support Sasol values and goals.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Follow and manage your personal development plan.
  • Prioritise safety.

Functional / Technical

  • Operate all types of Machine Workshop machinery.
  • Work according to quality control plans and procedures.
  • Achieve fine tolerances and precision on all machine jobs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Follow SAP work orders or similar systems.

Behavioural

  • Provide feedback to customers in plant maintenance.
  • Communicate with customers about machining requests as needed.

Formal Education

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Science, or N3 with Maths, Science, and Language – NQF Level 4.
  • Qualified as an Artisan Turner NQF4.
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s licence (required).

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years as a Turner after NQF4 artisan certification, including:
  • Experience with lathes.
  • Key seater.
  • Milling machine.
  • Boring mill.
  • Pedestal grinders.
  • Balancing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 18000 safety standards or similar.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system.
