  • Shortlisted candidates will need to complete a practical assessment.
  • You should have experience in mechanical work, general repairs, and basic welding. You need knowledge of machinery, pumps, compressors, steam systems, and sterilizing equipment.
  • You must be able to work alone and under pressure. Good organization and teamwork skills are required. Strong communication skills (spoken and written) are essential. You should plan ahead, work well in a team, and follow in-house rules. You need to know the Machinery and Occupational Health and Safety Acts, NBR, and SABS 1475. You must use tools and equipment safely and skillfully.
  • A Trade Test Certificate in a related field is required.
  • Grade A: No experience needed.
  • Grade B: At least 18 years of relevant experience after getting your Trade Test Certificate.
  • Grade C: At least 34 years of relevant experience after getting your Trade Test Certificate.
  • Your duties include maintaining and repairing all plant and equipment at the hospital under the Artisan Foreman’s guidance. You will handle administrative tasks, train and supervise junior staff, help with engineering projects, and manage tools and materials. You will also assist the Artisan Foreman.
  • A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) is required. You must be available for standby and overtime work.
  • Salary: Grade A: R 243 597 per year; Grade B: R 285 816 per year; Grade C: R 332 061 per year. Plus benefits like a 13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing allowance, and medical aid allowance.
