Purpose of the Job
To operate basic mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and machines. Carry out routine tasks by following strict, detailed instructions to meet performance targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Show proven competence in pre-identified areas for the plant, mine, equipment, or systems in your discipline.
- Understand and use the plant maintenance documentation system.
- Understand the planning work management system.
- Have relevant plant, mine, or basic process knowledge (specific to your discipline).
- Follow safety management systems, such as IMS and MBO.
- Apply emergency procedures when needed.
- Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and conduct task risk assessments.
- Join daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments.
- Support business goals and vision by meeting deadlines.
- Give clear feedback to your supervisor on work progress.
- Take part in root cause analyses and share feedback with the team.
- Join risk assessments as required by law and company rules to improve safety.
- Keep the workplace clean and follow waste disposal procedures.
- Share knowledge with junior artisans in familiar settings.
- Participate in quarterly performance reviews with your group leader to support personal growth.
- Identify your training needs and add them to your personal development plan with your group leader’s approval.
- Lead by example.
- Help create work instructions to build better staff skills.
- Take the lead in team tasks.
- Act as a group leader if it fits your career path.
- Contribute to the overall maintenance strategy and direction.
- Mentor learners and artisans informally.
- Conduct My IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
- Work well in a team.
- Attend and contribute to PDAs and RCAs to enhance plant safety and stability.
- Provide feedback to your group leader or planning officer on work progress.
- Ensure accurate history feedback is recorded to improve renewals, upgrades, and replacement of critical spares.
- Share input during toolbox talks to boost plant safety.
Formal Education
- National Senior Certificate with Mathematics, English, and Physical Science.
- Fitter Trade Qualification or Certificate.
Working Experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
