Purpose of the Job

To operate and maintain basic electrical equipment and machines. Carry out routine tasks by following strict, detailed instructions to meet performance targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in shift handover meetings.
  • Provide feedback to your supervisor on work progress.
  • Take part in root cause analyses and give feedback to the teams.
  • Join risk assessments as required by law and company rules to improve safety.
  • Keep the work area clean and follow waste disposal procedures.
  • Work independently.
  • Understand the business goals, drivers, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Apply and maintain safety standards in the work environment.
  • Contribute to developing training modules.
  • Identify your own training needs and add them to your personal development plan with your group leader’s approval.
  • Lead by example.
  • Coach learners on the job.
  • Present as a subject matter expert on specific plant equipment.
  • Conduct inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
  • Work effectively in a team.
  • Attend and contribute to problem diagnosis and analysis meetings to improve plant safety and stability.
  • Play a key role during emergencies to get the plant back online.
  • Give and receive feedback with other teams on daily issues.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders.
  • Share ideas at toolbox talks to improve safety.
  • Spot opportunities for continuous improvement in your work area.
  • Improve work practices and equipment where possible.

Formal Education

  • National Senior Certificate / N3 with Mathematics, Physical / Engineering Science, and English/Business English.
  • Electrical Trade Qualification / Certificate.

License

  • A valid Driver’s License.

Working Experience

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
