Job Purpose

The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government, has an opportunity for a competent individual to perform and supervise technical design, production, operation, and maintenance services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Sheet Metal or Fabrication.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
  • A valid Code B (or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

  • Design: Produce designs according to client specifications and within the limits of production capability.
  • Production: Produce objects using materials and equipment according to job specifications and recognized standards. Ensure quality assurance of produced objects.
  • Maintenance: Inspect equipment and facilities for technical faults. Repair equipment and facilities according to standards. Test repaired equipment and facilities against specifications. Service equipment and facilities according to schedule. Ensure quality assurance of serviced and maintained equipment and facilities.
  • Administrative Functions: Compile and submit reports. Update register of maintained and repaired faults. Obtain quotations and purchase required equipment and materials. Provide inputs to the operational plan.
  • Maintain Expertise: Engage in continuous individual development to keep up with new technologies and procedures.

Advantageous: Work experience in a sign manufacturing environment or other steel manufacturing-related environment. Understanding of production and optimization of a production line will be beneficial.

Remuneration

  • R 397 116 – R 467 790 per annum (OSD as prescribed).
