Transnet Apprentice: Millwright

Location: Durban, Koedoespoort, Salt River, South Africa

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: Matric (N2, N3, NCV Level 4, or Technical Grade 12)

Age Requirement: 18 to 35 years old

Position Purpose

This apprenticeship program offers a work-based learning opportunity under the guidance of a skilled Artisan. It combines on-the-job training with formal instruction to master the theory of technical certificate courses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare work sites, equipment, and tools for trade-related activities.
  • Use hand, power, and measuring tools effectively.
  • Install, assemble, and fit electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Test, inspect, commission, and repair electrical equipment and systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completed N2 with subjects in Electrical Trade Theory, Industrial Electronics, or Engineering Science.
  • Completed N3 with subjects in Industrial Electronics, Mathematics (Pure), or Electro-technology.
  • NCV Level 4 in relevant vocational subjects.
  • Technical Grade 12 with subjects like Mathematics (Pure), Engineering, and Physical Science.
  • Good Problem Solving, Communication, Analytical, and Teamwork skills.
