Job Title: Apprentice: Mechanical Fitter (Salt River)

Position Purpose:
This apprenticeship is a work-based learning program where you will work under the guidance of a qualified artisan. You will gain practical skills and attend formal training sessions to study for a National Technical Certificate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare work sites, tools, and materials for trade-related tasks.
  • Use hand, power, and measuring tools effectively.
  • Install, assemble, fit, and connect equipment and systems.
  • Test, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications Required:
You must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. N2 Subjects:

    • Engineering Science
    • Mathematics (Pure)
    • Fitting & Machining
    • Engineering Drawing

  2. N3 Subjects:

    • Mathematics (Pure)
    • Engineering Science
    • Electro-technology/Electrotechnics
    • Fitting & Machining
    • Engineering Drawing

  3. NCV Level 4:

    • Fundamentals
    • First Additional Language (English)
    • Mathematics (Pure)
    • Life Orientation
    • Vocational subjects (Engineering Process, Professional Engineering Practice, Applied Engineering Technology, Fitting & Turning)

  4. Technical Grade 12:

    • Life Orientation
    • Mathematics (Pure)
    • Engineering and Graphic Design
    • Home Language
    • First Additional Language
    • Physical Science
    • Fitting and Machining
    • Mechanical Technology

Additional Requirements:

  • Age between 18 and 35.
