AEL is looking to recruit an Artisan Assistant to work in Sishen in the Northern Cape. To provide a maintenance service on MMU’s and equipment. AECI Mining Explosives was established in 1896 and has become one of the world's leading suppliers of explosives and initiating systems. Comprises of 16 businesses complimented by production facilities and offices throughout Southern Africa, Africa, and select international regions in South East Asia, South America and Europe. AECI Mining Explosives has 58 plants and 34 sites in more than 20 countries.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide hand-on assistance to the maintenance artisan in the repair and maintenance of the MMU’s. • Perform engineering inspections, identify problem areas and implement pro-active maintenance improvement corrective actions. • The incumbent will ensure that the maintenance area and oil store is kept clean. • The incumbent will be responsible for weekly greasing of MMU’S. • Perform safety and health inspections and implement corrective action. • Provide an in-house function regarding lube services and other minor work as directed by maintenance artisan. • Be actively involved in safety initiatives. General • Ability to perform overtime duties and standby. • Ability to work the prescribed shift pattern. • Able to work without supervision at all times. • Willing to be cross-trained on electrical and instrumentation skills.
Qualifications & Experience
• Matric / Grade 12 or N2 Certificate. • Minimum of 3 years workshop experience as an artisan assistant. • Experience working with hand tools such as jigsaws, drilling machines, bench grinders and machinery. • Pneumatic experience will be an advantage. • Hands-on technical, production and quality management experience is essential. • A good understanding and knowledge of safety standards, quality management and production processes in a manufacturing environment.Competencies• Sense of urgency • Be able to work under pressure • Good written and oral communication skills with all level in the organisation • Problem solving skills • Ability to meet deadlines • Flexible • Team player • Follow-up on actions for completion • Work independently and on won initiative • Self-starter • Living the AEL Values
