Job Summary
This role involves receiving, capturing, and distributing all samples to ensure accurate information is recorded. The goal is to support the quick processing of samples in line with our service objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
- BSc Degree (advantageous)
Experience
- 0-1 years of relevant working experience

Key Performance Areas
- Sort and distribute samples according to standard operating procedures to ensure they reach the right laboratories or sites quickly and correctly.
- Register samples (logging) and handle queries following standard procedures.
- Dispatch specimens for processing as per procedures, monitor progress, file reports, and manage queries and deliveries within set turnaround times.
- Conduct hospital rounds to deliver reports and collect samples for processing according to relevant procedures.
- Manage administrative queries and customer complaints to resolve them promptly.
- Track sample delivery by couriers to ensure specimens reach the lab, get processed, and results are returned on time, following procedures.
- Identify and resolve issues in pre-analytical lab processes quickly.
- Maintain basic housekeeping in your work area, including cleaning and preparing equipment as per procedures.
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies to keep materials available, and deliver stock to doctor’s rooms.
- Represent the organization professionally and ethically, applying customer care principles in the medical pathology field while interacting with medical professionals and staff.
- Manage the reception area, provide information, direct clients to departments, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Receive cash from patients and bank it according to procedures.
- Report incidents, log complaints and solutions, read documents, and complete tasks on the laboratory information system per organizational policy.
- Prepare and scan patient forms onto the laboratory scanning system (Oculus) and fix any incomplete scans per procedures.
- Follow Lancet uniform protocols as per standard operating procedures.
