Job Summary:

  • Responsible for accurate capturing of data.

Minimum Criteria Required:

  • Grade 12 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification.

Experience:

  • 0-1 years of relevant working experience.

Relevant Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of organisational policies and procedures.
  • Computer literate.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Capture patient information and medical aid details from doctor’s report forms to ensure correct processing.
  • Ensure data is captured accurately and on time for quality results.
  • Order stationery to keep resources available for smooth service delivery.
  • Assist at the switchboard to support daily operations.
  • Log patient registration forms accurately into the computerised database system following standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reports, medical aid, or patient payments.
  • Check registration forms on the computer according to SOPs to ensure reliable and accurate patient results.
  • Dispatch specimens for processing as per SOPs, monitor progress, file reports, handle queries, and deliver reports within the required turnaround time.
  • Conduct hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect samples for processing, following relevant SOPs.
  • Handle administrative queries and customer complaints to resolve them quickly.
  • Track sample delivery by couriers to ensure specimens reach the lab, get processed, and results are returned on time, in line with SOPs.
  • Investigate delays in pre-analytical lab processes and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain basic housekeeping in your work area, including cleaning and preparing equipment according to SOPs.
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure materials are available and delivered to doctor’s rooms.
  • Represent the company professionally by applying customer care principles in the medical pathology field and interacting ethically with medical professionals and staff.
  • Manage the reception area, provide information, direct clients to departments, and offer excellent customer service.
  • Receive cash from patients and bank it according to SOPs.
  • Report incidents, log complaints and solutions, read documents, and action tasks on the laboratory information management system as per company policy.
  • Follow Lancet uniform protocols as per SOPs.
  • Store specimens by scanning them electronically for easy access on request.
  • Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment to keep it in good working order.
  • Maintain proper waste removal practices according to waste policies and procedures.
  • Handle your own training and that of new staff, keeping records for ongoing development.
