Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12, Diploma or Degree in Finance.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Valid Code B (08) driver’s license.
Knowledge
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to calculate and reconcile customer accounts effectively.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Phone customers using the municipality’s technology systems (SAMRAS, GEO, and Revenue Alert system).
- Check and process outstanding accounts by comparing and updating data on the computer.
- Process reminders and final notices to encourage arrear payments.
- Monitor debt payment arrangements through consultation and negotiation with debtors.
- Submit information for staff account deductions in accordance with the Systems Act.
- Coordinate the implementation of disconnections.
- Hand over unpaid accounts to attorneys for collections in compliance with regulations.
- Liaise with attorneys on handed-over accounts.
- Compile lists of write-offs for irrecoverable debts and submit for further processing.
- Help debtors fill in indigent forms.
- Prepare and post journals to ensure the accuracy of debtor accounts.
- Provide general administration tasks and duties.
- Reference source documentation.
