The Office of the Chief Whip in the is looking for a skilled and analytical individual to join their team as a Researcher: . This fixed-term contract position offers a competitive total remuneration package ranging from R499,248.00 to R684,900.00 per annum.

Role Overview

The Researcher will provide advisory and research support to Minority Caucus members within the Oversight Committees. This involves conducting research, compiling reports, and providing data-driven insights to enhance the decision-making processes of the caucus. The role requires a proactive approach in managing multiple research projects simultaneously and advising on local government legislative matters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Business Degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar environment, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record in research and analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of Local Government Legislation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Advisory Support: Advise Minority Caucus members in Oversight Committees by monitoring and evaluating the implementation of departmental business plans, enhancing their understanding of their roles and functions.
  • Report Compilation: Compile and present research reports to support improved decision-making by the caucus team.
  • Research Projects: Identify and initiate research projects to align with committee agendas, ensuring they address the objectives set out in the Terms of Reference.
  • Independent Research: Conduct independent research on behalf of the Caucus, delivering high-quality projects that influence recommendations to the Council.
  • Information Dissemination: Share research findings to enhance decision-making and improve the quality of support provided to the Caucus.
  • Networking: Develop and maintain relationships with other research professionals to enhance the quality of research conducted within the legislature.
  • Research and Advisory Services: Provide comprehensive research and advisory services to minority caucus members, supporting their strategic and oversight functions.
