ICT Helpdesk Administrator

Position Overview

The South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) seeks a proactive ICT Helpdesk Administrator to join our Corporate Services team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical support skills while ensuring smooth ICT operations across our organization.

Key Details

  • Location: Head Office, Cape Town
  • Salary: R170,452 per annum

Core Responsibilities

Technical Support & Incident Management

  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Manage full lifecycle of service requests from logging to resolution
  • Escalate complex issues to senior ICT staff with detailed documentation
  • Maintain clear communication with users regarding issue status

ICT Administration

  • Manage equipment registers (asset movements, pool equipment, repairs)
  • Coordinate ICT department paperwork including HR and finance documents
  • Maintain updated service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for ICT team discussions

User Training & Development

  • Organize staff training sessions on ICT systems and software
  • Develop and maintain training materials and user guides
  • Track training participation through attendance registers
  • Analyze support trends to identify recurring issues

Essential Requirements

Education & Certification

  • National Diploma in Information Technology or related field
  • ITIL Foundation/CompTIA A+/N+ certification (advantageous)

Technical Competencies

  • 2+ years’ helpdesk experience in Windows environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with service desk platforms (Freshdesk/ManageEngine)
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills

Professional Skills

  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Strong written/verbal communication abilities
  • Effective time management for task prioritization
  • Valid Code B driver’s license

Work Environment

This office-based role requires occasional equipment handling and regular computer use. Successful candidates must demonstrate problem-solving skills for technical challenges while maintaining service excellence standards.
