Role Overview
We seek a qualified Sign Language Educator to deliver Second Additional Language (SAL) instruction in our senior phase program. This temporary position requires expertise in South African Sign Language (SASL) and a commitment to innovative teaching methods in a blended learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging Sign Language curriculum for Grades 8-10
- Implement individualized learning plans using face-to-face and digital methods
- Conduct regular student assessments and track academic progress
- Lead character development sessions focusing on social-emotional learning
- Collaborate with faculty on cross-curricular projects and school events
- Maintain positive classroom culture and support inclusive education practices
- Participate in professional development programs (minimum 25 hours/year)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or PGCE with SASL specialization
- Valid SACE registration
- Native-level proficiency in South African Sign Language
- Proven experience teaching SASL as additional language
- Clear criminal record
- Understanding of CAPS curriculum requirements
