Salary

All-inclusive package of R6,500.00 per month.

The George Municipality is offering a two-year internship program for qualified and unemployed graduates. This program focuses on professional development in key areas. We are looking for candidates in the following fields:

  • Risk Management: A three-year degree or diploma in Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, or Commerce.
  • Forensic Investigation: A three-year degree or diploma in Forensic Investigation, Law, Criminology, or any related field.

Successful candidates will work as interns in the Directorate: Office of the Municipal Manager at the George Municipality. You will be supervised by experienced professionals, including the Chief Risk Officer and other supervisors, and guided by a professional mentor. This program is designed to build your skills and experience in a supportive environment.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you must meet these basic requirements:

  • You should preferably be unemployed at the time of application.
  • You must hold a three-year degree or diploma in one of the following: Forensic Investigation, Law, Criminology, Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, Commerce, or any other relevant qualification.
  • Preference will be given to graduates who live in the George or Garden Route Municipal area.
  • You need to be computer literate, with good knowledge of MS Office.
  • The appointment will follow Employment Equity guidelines to promote diversity.
  • You must be willing to sign a two-year contract with the George Municipality.
  • You should have strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • You need to maintain positive relationships with customers and the public.
  • You must be able to handle conflicts and work well under pressure.
  • Attention to detail is important, and you should be able to use good judgment in changing situations.
  • You will need to manage your own tasks and prioritize duties independently.
  • Candidates may need to complete tests on skills, competencies, or other requirements during the selection process.

Interested candidates must submit a completed formal application form, along with a detailed CV, certified copies (not older than six months) of your qualifications, identity document, and driver’s license (if applicable).

All applications must be received by the Human Resource Department on or before 05 November 2025 at 16:30. Make sure to fill out the application form completely.

Note: Only hand-delivered applications will be accepted. Late applications will not be considered.

Disqualification Rules

The following will lead to automatic disqualification:

  • Trying to influence any member of the selection panel, employee, or councillor to gain an advantage.
  • Providing false or misleading information on your application.
  • If you were previously dismissed from a municipality for reasons listed in Annexure E of the Local Government Municipal Staff Regulations (Gazette no. 45181), you cannot apply until the specified period has passed.
  • Late submissions.
  • Failing to follow instructions for preliminary tests, practical exercises, or interviews.
