Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must have:
- An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist
- Current registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist (proof of current registration must be attached)
- A minimum of one year’s experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience in vocational rehabilitation and report writing will be an added advantage
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication, interpersonal, IT, financial, and human resource management skills
- Ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary context
- Analytical thinking, independent decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Knowledge of various physical conditions (medical, surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric) and their impact on function and seating (intermediate and advanced level recommended)
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Render and manage Occupational Therapy services that comply with standards and work procedures as indicated by all health policies, implementing sectorial and provincial quality assurance measures
- Conduct assessments and treatment of patients with different physical conditions (medical, surgical, paediatrics, orthopaedic, and mental health)
- Perform work assessments and write reports for clients, including completion of SASSA forms
- Issue appropriate assistive devices to patients
- Contribute to resource management within the department
- Contribute to training and development initiatives
- Manage allocation of human resources and departmental resources effectively
- Ensure quality clinical service delivery
- Perform all relevant duties of an Occupational Therapist as required
- Participate in continuous professional development activities
- Engage in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and Health Awareness Programmes
