Department Overview
Join the City of Johannesburg’s Citizen Relationship & Urban Management (CRUM) department as we seek a Deputy Director to lead our Augmented Field Service Unit. This critical role operates from our Regional G Municipal Office in the Corobrick Building Extension 10, K43 Road.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate plus NQF Level 7 Qualification in Public Administration/Management or equivalent
- 7-9 years’ experience in government sector (Local/Provincial/National)
- 3+ years’ middle management experience
- Proven track record in service delivery coordination and Area Based Management
- Thorough understanding of MFMA, Municipal Structures Act, and related legislation
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standardized service delivery protocols across all regions (A-G)
- Lead social mobilization initiatives and community engagement programs
- Manage financial controls and risk management processes
- Contribute to departmental business planning and SDBIP development
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through KPI tracking
Essential Competencies
- Advanced MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strategic planning and operational implementation capabilities
- Strong stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of Batho Pele principles and public service ethics
