Department Overview

Join the City of Johannesburg’s Citizen Relationship & Urban Management (CRUM) department as we seek a Deputy Director to lead our Augmented Field Service Unit. This critical role operates from our Regional G Municipal Office in the Corobrick Building Extension 10, K43 Road.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate plus NQF Level 7 Qualification in Public Administration/Management or equivalent
  • 7-9 years’ experience in government sector (Local/Provincial/National)
  • 3+ years’ middle management experience
  • Proven track record in service delivery coordination and Area Based Management
  • Thorough understanding of MFMA, Municipal Structures Act, and related legislation

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement standardized service delivery protocols across all regions (A-G)
  • Lead social mobilization initiatives and community engagement programs
  • Manage financial controls and risk management processes
  • Contribute to departmental business planning and SDBIP development
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through KPI tracking

Essential Competencies

  • Advanced MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strategic planning and operational implementation capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Batho Pele principles and public service ethics
