Graduate Internship Programme for 2025 to 2027
The Department of Employment and Labour invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Graduate Internship Programme for the 2025 to 2027 financial years. This programme offers valuable work experience to qualifying candidates who have not previously participated in any internship. As an equal opportunity employer, the Department prioritizes applicants from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in line with its Employment Equity Plan. Special consideration will be given to people living with disabilities, South African youth, and individuals from disadvantaged communities.
General Requirements
- South African citizenship.
- Unemployed at the time of application.
- No prior participation in an internship programme.
- Relevant qualifications: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in fields related to the internship post, with 360/480 credits recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
- For foreign qualifications, evaluation by SAQA is required.
- Applicants must be willing to relocate if the internship is outside their area of residence, as no accommodation or transport allowances are provided beyond the stipend.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through the provided link or in person (walk-in). Use the new Z83 application form, available from any Public Service Department website, www.dpsa.gov.za-vacancies, or www.Labour.gov.za. Applications using the old Z83 form will not be considered.
Submit the completed and signed Z83 form along with a recently updated CV. Shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies of their Matric certificate, academic transcripts, qualifications, academic record, and ID document.
All shortlisted candidates will undergo a pre-entry practical exercise to assess their suitability based on technical and generic requirements. The Department may require applicants to be available for assessments and interviews at a specified time, date, and location.
Separate applications are required for each reference number and province if applying for positions outside your area. Failure to submit all required documents will result in disqualification.
Appointments are subject to verification and pre-screening. Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted within eight weeks of the closing date. If you do not hear from us, consider your application unsuccessful. The Department reserves the right not to fill any positions.
Closing Date
21 November 2025 at 16:00 for walk-in applications and 00:00 midnight for online applications.
