The Human Settlements Department, specifically the Public Housing Programme branch, offers internships for a period not exceeding 18 months. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Possession of a Grade 12 certificate (NQF level 4).
- Currently enrolled or have completed a National Diploma in Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management at NQF level 7, or N6 in any built environment field, needing in-service training.
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg.
- Must provide an enrollment confirmation letter from their institution.
Primary Responsibilities
Interns will provide project and administrative support, serving as Project Coordinators on various public housing projects managed by the Public Housing Programme directorate. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and monitoring projects implemented by the Public Housing Programme.
- Ensuring compliance with procurement strategies, building contracts, and tender documentation.
- Supporting administrative procedures associated with departmental programs.

The internship offers exposure to key areas including:

- Administrative support and process adherence.
Required Competencies and Skills
Successful interns should exhibit the following competencies:
