Position 1: Artisan – Mechanical Workshops (Reference: TRFL19107)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Artisan to join our Mechanical Workshops team. This critical role involves providing expert diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services for the City of Ekurhuleni’s fleet of council vehicles and related equipment. The successful candidate will work with heavy commercial vehicles and must demonstrate technical excellence while adhering to all safety standards and municipal policies. You will be part of a dedicated team that ensures our vehicle fleet operates efficiently and safely, directly supporting the delivery of essential services to our communities.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Completed Grade 12 (Senior Certificate)
- N3 qualification in Motor or Diesel Mechanic
- Valid Trade Test certification in Motor or Diesel Mechanic
- Possess a valid EC1 Driver’s licence with Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) specifically applicable to heavy commercial vehicles
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in a similar role
Core Responsibilities
Your primary duties in this role will include:
- Performing skilled diagnostic, overhaul, adjustment, repair and maintenance work on council vehicles, components and vehicle-related equipment
- Executing all repair and maintenance activities in full compliance with relevant Acts, legislation, council policies, manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Strictly adhering to specified standards, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times
- Delivering on service level agreements that are aligned with the Batho Pele principles of putting people first
- Providing authoritative, specialist expertise and technical advice to internal and external customers
- Continuously assessing your own performance, seeking timely and clear feedback on contracted outputs and proactively requesting training where appropriate
- Maintaining professional interaction and ensuring ethical dealings with all stakeholders
- Driving your own performance while providing specialist support and advice in accordance with required response times, quality standards and service delivery expectations
Position 2: Administrative Assistant – COID Claims (Reference: RISK19029)

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) Claims department. This role is essential for ensuring that all injury-on-duty claims are processed efficiently and in compliance with legal requirements. You will be responsible for administrative tasks that directly impact the wellbeing of our employees and the financial integrity of our claims processes. The position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with administrative experience to develop specialist knowledge in occupational injury claims management.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Matric certificate or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in administrative work
- COID Certificate will be considered a strong added advantage
- Full computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software
Core Responsibilities
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Executing administrative functions to ensure injury-on-duty claims are administered in full compliance with legal and procedural prescripts
- Carrying out communication functions to ensure that all parties involved in the injury-on-duty administrative process are kept informed regarding the status and progress of claims
- Assisting in administering all pension payment increases on an annual basis
- Assisting in processing payments to service providers
- Assisting in maintaining accurate registers for audit purposes
