The Department of Home Affairs issues birth, marriage, and death certificates to document life events and provide legal identification for South African citizens. These documents are required for school enrollment, banking transactions, legal contracts, and processing estates.
Birth Certificates
Parents or guardians must register newborns within 30 days at their nearest Home Affairs office or hospital registration facility. Late registrations (after 30 days) require additional documentation and approvals.

Marriage Certificates
