Introduction
Assmang Proprietary Limited (Assmang) is seeking a qualified Shift Supervisor Drill and Blast (C5) for their Black Rock Mine Operations, located 80 km northwest of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring full compliance with mine health and safety regulations, as well as adherence to all mine policies, procedures, and standards. You will be responsible for planning and organizing resources, personnel, and equipment to execute the drilling schedule efficiently and safely.
Job Description
In this position, you will oversee the entire drilling and blasting process, ensuring it is planned, coordinated, and controlled effectively. Key responsibilities include managing the replenishment and distribution of drilling consumables, coordinating the collection and transport of samples, and ensuring that sampling requests are completed on time and accurately to achieve 100% sampling coverage. You will interpret sampling sheets correctly and maintain grade control in line with mine planning requirements.
Safety is paramount in this role. You will inspect for legal compliance and implement remedial actions where necessary, recording any non-conformances and the steps required to address them. You will receive and implement changes to operating standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and critical paths (CPs), ensuring all team members are informed and acknowledge these updates. By exercising and promoting basic principles of safety and mining, you will assure adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures. This involves identifying unsafe or hazardous situations, diagnosing incidents and accidents through root cause analyses, taking corrective actions, conducting risk assessments, and stopping work in unsafe areas.
You will know and apply the basic principles of safety and mining, complying with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards. This includes identifying and reporting unsafe or hazardous situations in your work area, participating in safety meetings, and taking responsibility for your own safety as well as that of your colleagues.
Operationally, you will identify constraints and deviations from the plan, issuing new instructions as needed. You will set your own priorities, including Plan Task Observations (PTOs), and communicate any constraints to relevant stakeholders. Routine area inspections will be conducted with the scheduled Miner to monitor daily operations and ensure adherence to legal requirements. PTOs will focus on roof and face preparation, drill and blast activities, and load and haul operations. You will identify deviations from health, safety, production parameters, and priority tasks, and inspect services such as ventilation, water, air, and drain columns.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required to support administrative tasks. Additional duties include ensuring compliance with mine health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety throughout the team.

Senior Production Engineer

Your work will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation while implementing effective processes, principles, and best practices to support mining operations.
Job Description
As Senior Production Engineer, you will ensure full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other related legislation and statutory requirements during the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure and related systems. You will integrate and align change initiatives through a structured change management process and use business intelligence and trend analyses to develop the best control systems and practices.
You will implement an operations effectiveness model, plan, direct, and assess quality management within your function, and introduce improvement strategies to adhere to Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. Leading the engineering contractor management process in all underground sections will be a core part of your role, as will providing effective maintenance management for operational equipment and infrastructure under your legal appointment.
To optimize performance, you will refine the function’s core internal processes and supply chain, resolving any operational conflicts that arise. You will lead continuous improvement projects and change management initiatives to enhance maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability. Providing technical expertise and support to production and maintenance teams, you will facilitate problem-solving and optimization efforts.
Driving maintenance readiness will involve systematic planning, resource optimization, and implementing preparation standards to achieve excellence in execution. You will develop clear accountability for maintenance spending and create strategies to manage expenditures effectively. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential, as is implementing people development initiatives to meet functional performance standards.

You will capture and verify logistics data, assist in compiling accurate stock and other reports, and drive continuous improvement by participating in planning and change initiatives. This includes conducting task observations at the port to ensure compliance. Fostering strong team relationships, upholding discipline and performance standards, and adhering to disciplinary guidelines and behavior protocols will help maintain a respectful and compliant environment.
Additional responsibilities include port budget planning, execution, and compliance; collaborating effectively to achieve collective goals; supporting transformation efforts; and providing constructive feedback to overcome resistance.
