About the Role

The Junior Chemical Plant Operator works within a specific plant or unit at Sasol. The role focuses on operating process equipment and systems to meet production targets safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate plant equipment and systems to meet production requirements.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors on work progress.
  • Participate in risk assessments to improve safety.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste disposal procedures.
  • Work independently while understanding business goals and KPIs.
  • Apply and maintain safety practices in the workplace.
  • Attend shift handover meetings.
  • Identify personal training needs and incorporate them into a Personal Development Plan.
  • Coach learners and subject matter experts on the job.
  • Present on specific plant equipment as required.
  • Conduct IMS inspections to support plant sustainability.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Play a key role during emergency situations to restore plant operations.
  • Give and receive feedback with other disciplines.
  • Contribute to toolbox talks to enhance plant safety.

Qualifications

Education: NQF 4 Chemical Operations with CPO SOR or Chemical Plant Operator Occupational Qualification (CPO EISA)

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant plant operation experience.
