About the Role

We are looking for one motivated student to join our team as an In‑Service Trainee in Mechatronic Engineering. The role will be based in Midrand and will run for 12 months, giving you hands‑on experience in maintaining and improving our manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect building systems and equipment regularly to spot potential issues.
• Assist with routine maintenance to keep equipment running efficiently.
• Help repair malfunctioning equipment, working with senior engineers to troubleshoot problems.
• Record all repairs and maintenance actions to maintain an accurate equipment history.
• Analyse maintenance data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Participate in developing strategies to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Apply electrical, mechanical, and physical principles to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
• Use mathematical concepts to support engineering calculations and assessments.
• Follow safety protocols and industry standards to minimise risks.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and maintenance staff to learn and contribute.
• Communicate effectively with team members about equipment status and maintenance needs.
• Engage in training opportunities to improve technical skills.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Prepare reports on equipment status and maintenance outcomes for management review.
• Participate in team meetings focused on process improvement initiatives.
• Contribute ideas for optimising maintenance procedures and overall departmental efficiency.
• Assist with special projects related to building maintenance or upgrades.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Grade 12 Maths and Maths Literacy – minimum 40%.
• Two South African languages – minimum 40%.
• Currently studying towards a Mechatronic Engineering Diploma or a related qualification.
• South African citizen.
• Employment Equity candidate.
• Unemployed at the time of appointment.
• Age 18–35 years.
