Job Summary

This learnership offers hands‑on experience in operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants. You will monitor water quality, conduct laboratory tests, assist with equipment maintenance, and participate in sampling and analysis. The programme includes classroom learning, discussions, assignments, and a practical logbook.

Minimum Requirements

• Not currently employed, enrolled in any institution, or registered in another learnership.
• No completed post‑matric qualification. Applicants with a post‑matric qualification will not be considered.
• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science, each at least Level 3.
• South African citizen with a valid SA ID.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.

Primary Duties

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Monitor water and wastewater quality parameters.
• Conduct basic laboratory tests.
• Assist in the maintenance of equipment and instruments.
• Participate in sampling and analysis activities.
• Attend classroom sessions as part of the learnership programme.
• Engage in discussions and activities during classes.
• Complete assignments and projects as required.
• Maintain a practical logbook to evaluate knowledge and understanding.

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge: Understanding of Rand Water’s mandate and its contribution to the water sector.

Skills: Good verbal and written communication.

Attitude: Self‑motivated and results‑driven.
