About the Role

Unilever is looking for an Engineer Trainee to join our Supply Chain team. The role focuses on improving the performance of our packing cells by applying World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methods. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and help drive operational excellence, reduce waste, and increase productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent output, quality, and efficiency in packing cells.
  • Apply WCM tools (AM, PM, FI, QC) to identify and eliminate losses.
  • Collect and analyse data to find root causes of problems.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Balance lines and evaluate bottlenecks to improve throughput.
  • Develop and maintain technical standards and SOPs.
  • Train operators on AM/PM standards and build capability.
  • Support trials for innovations, renovations, and 5S initiatives.
  • Track OEE trends and set baselines for change implementation.

What You Need to Succeed

Experience & Qualifications

  • 2–3 years in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with WCM/Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience with high‑speed packaging machinery is a plus.
  • BSc or BTech in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher (preferred).
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) (preferred).

Core Technical Skills

  • Use of WCM tools: AM, PM, FI, QC.
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Data analysis and loss‑tree interpretation.
  • Line balancing and bottleneck analysis.
  • OEE monitoring and improvement.

Quality & Compliance

  • Understanding of quality systems and QEWO process.
  • Implement process control and corrective actions.

Documentation & Standards

  • Develop SOPs and technical standards.
  • Standardise machine settings.

Training & Capability Building

  • Train operators on AM/PM standards.
  • Coach and transfer knowledge.

Innovation & Change Support

  • Execute trials for changes and innovations.
  • Set baselines and analyse impact.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with teams.
  • Promote a performance culture.
