Job Requirements & Other Attributes:

  • PSIRA registered (Grade C) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Wireman.
  • Practical electrical/electronic knowledge is advantageous.

Main Purpose of the Job:

To assist the Installations Technician with installing cabling for alarm systems, drilling holes, and connecting detectors and the panel. You will also power up and walk-test the system. At this level, you should be qualified and experienced enough to handle cabling installations for alarm systems, as well as Intercom, CCTV, and Access Control systems. You will drill on your own, connect detectors and the alarm control panel, and power up and walk-test the system without direct supervision.

Duties:

  • Assist the technician with installations of alarm and security equipment.
  • Help remove old equipment from client premises.
  • Run new cables, apply glue, drill holes, and mount detectors, panels, contacts, lights, and more.
  • Inform the technician of any shortfalls or limitations in equipment and tools.
  • Advise the technician on the cabling needed for an installation.
  • Assist with user functions and perform handovers.
  • Clean vehicles and premises after installations.
