Job Purpose
To provide technical skills to support the optimal management and operation of hardware, firmware, operating systems, and application server software updates and fixes in SARS production and non-production environments. This includes maintaining hardware, operating systems, and application server software to meet service level agreements through a service management system.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification and Experience Required
- Relevant National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in a field related to end-user device management and governance. Core Microsoft Foundation Certification and 2-3 years of experience in a high-level technical and research & development environment, including 1-2 years at a knowledge worker level.
OR
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND relevant IT qualifications or certifications, such as Microsoft MCSA/MCSE/MCSD. 2-3 years of experience in a similar environment, plus additional requirements in minimum functional requirements where applicable.
- Microsoft products (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Teams Rooms or other end-user device related Microsoft Certifications).
ALTERNATIVE
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 5 years of experience in Microsoft MCSA/MCSE certification, including 1-2 years at a knowledge worker level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
- Familiarity with IT hardware, SCCM, Intune, endpoint management, and print fleet management.
Job Outputs
Process
- Assist in ensuring a stable performance environment for business processing systems.
- Configure, debug, and support multiple infrastructure platforms.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, software, and system management tools.
- Maintain hardware and software at regional data centres, respond to alerts, monitor dashboards, and conduct periodic system reviews.
- Maintain and support technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components.
- Perform high-level root-cause analysis for service interruptions in all environments.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and support of system software/hardware and provide user support.
- Responsible for maintenance and support of technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software, mainly in non-production environments but also in production.
- Conduct hardware, firmware, operating system, and application server software updates and fixes.
- Deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems in all environments.
- Ensure a stable performance environment for business processing systems.
- Manage, coordinate, configure, program, and install single system hardware and software architectures and related services within the enterprise.
- Participate in IT projects to improve or upgrade system infrastructure, following change management procedures.
- Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations in your area of specialization.
- Apply practical knowledge to identify trends and potential risks.
- Communicate situational interpretations and judgments on work outputs and queries.
- Apply policies, practices, standards, procedures, and legislation correctly.
- Plan and schedule activities to improve quality and service delivery.
- Execute process and procedural changes, implement them, and provide guidelines and support.
