Nongoma Local Municipality is located in the center of northern KwaZulu-Natal. It is one of the five local municipalities in the Zululand District Municipality and includes three traditional authorities: Mandlakazi, Usuthu, and Matheni. It is the only area in the world with six Royal Palaces.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To provide strategic direction and manage the Municipality to achieve its mandate.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or Matric Certificate, Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ relevant experience at senior management level, preferably in Local Government.
  • Proven successful institutional transformation within the public or private sector.
  • Fluency in isiZulu and English.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A certificate in Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP) or Certificate Programme in Management Development (CPMD).
  • Compliance with all requirements in the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels, Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007.
  • If newly appointed and without this Competency, it must be completed within 18 months from the date of employment, or the contract will end automatically one month after that period.
