Head Clinical Unit (Medical) Grade 1 (Radiology)

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Specialist in Radiology.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

• An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Radiology.

Duties (Key Result Areas/Outputs):

• Manage the overall performance of a 24/7 Radiology service at the Regional Hospital using an ecosystem approach.
• Provide leadership and ensure proper clinical governance systems are in place for the Garden Route and Central Karoo Districts (Rural East Ecosystem).
• Handle corporate governance of the Radiology Functional Business Unit, including financial and human resource management.
• Cooperate and liaise with other departments within the hospital and across the Rural East Ecosystem.
• Function within the Executive Management Team and apply knowledge of public health administration and management.
• Supervise and train junior and senior staff, and teach undergraduates and postgraduates as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):

• A strong record of clinical expertise and clinical governance.
• Experience with training and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across disciplines.
• Strong people management skills, analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Financial and resource management experience.
• Experience in management or leadership.
