Experience:
- A minimum of 9 years of appropriate nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in General Nursing. At least 5 years of this must be in Nursing Education after obtaining a 1-year post-basic qualification in Nursing Education.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Basic R425 qualification accredited with SANC (diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife or Psychiatric Nurse (where applicable). A post-basic qualification of at least one year in any clinical nursing specialty. A post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC. A relevant Master’s degree (NQF Level 9).
Duties (Key Result Areas/Outputs):
- Ensure academic governance for all postgraduate programmes according to delegations, relevant acts, regulations, and the annual performance plan.
- Coordinate and facilitate multi-campus nursing education and training for students to meet Council on Higher Education programme review standards.
- Manage staff effectively.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate clinical learning opportunities for students between the college and clinical areas.
- Coordinate the teaching and learning of nursing programmes.
- Participate in developing and reviewing nursing curricula for postgraduate Diploma Programmes.
- Implement new nursing programmes in line with SANC and Council on Higher Education standards.
- Participate in all governance structures of the College.
- Coordinate and facilitate research, and promote the image of the College.
Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):
- Knowledge of relevant laws, acts, regulations, and policy frameworks.
- Knowledge of nursing education programmes and curriculum.
- Skills in teaching and assessing in Nursing Education, including evaluation methods.
- Knowledge of policy development, interpretation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Strong conflict management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy.
