Senior Electrician Jobs

Minimum Requirements:

• Completed recognized Trade Test as Electrician
• Qualification in high voltage operations (switching, phasing, fault finding, and safety) with a valid ORHVS Certificate
• 3-5 years post-apprenticeship experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Valid Code C1 driver’s license with valid PrDP

• Ability to handle high voltage pressure testing and cable fault finding equipment

• Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa)

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Receive and address customer complaints
• Issue permits to contractors while working with a supervisor
• Ensure the safety of contractors at substations
• Liaise with suppliers regarding purchases of materials and equipment
• Verify and approve time and log sheets, as well as monthly vehicle e-fuel statements
• Conduct standby duties after hours on the electrical network
• Update switching and electrical diagrams
• Execute switching procedures on 11kV and 66kV systems
• Respond to call-outs for power failures or other emergencies
• Adhere to safety procedures
• Identify and fix faults on the system in line with regulations
