Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to focus on hardware and ensure the efficient functioning, maintenance, and deployment of hardware resources in the organization’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s hardware assets, including computers, servers, networking equipment, peripherals, and other devices.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues to keep operations running smoothly. Perform regular maintenance, updates, and repairs to improve hardware performance and extend its life.
  • Handle the deployment of new hardware across the organization, including configuring systems, installing software, and ensuring compatibility with existing setups.
  • Keep accurate records of hardware inventory, tracking locations, configurations, and usage to prevent loss, streamline procurement, and comply with licensing agreements.
  • Provide technical support to end-users with hardware problems or questions, responding to requests, troubleshooting issues, and guiding them on proper use.
  • Implement security protocols and best practices to protect hardware from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats, including encryption, access controls, and updates.

Requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Information Technology qualification at NQF level (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree)
  • N+ and A+ qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in designing and managing IT networks
  • 3 years of experience in the retail industry (hardware retail is an advantage)
  • Experience with Kerridge system (preferred)
  • Experience using Microsoft 365
  • Brights Induction (service excellence training)
  • Ability to handle pressure and strong leadership skills to manage projects and teams
  • Clear and effective communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels
  • Problem-solving skills for handling escalated and complex queries
