Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification, plus a qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant (Enrolled Nursing Assistant). Previous experience in psychiatry is an advantage.
• Passion for working with mentally ill patients. Ability to work in a team and independently, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the National Core Standards, Public Service Regulations, Batho Pele Principles, SANC Regulations, and the Patients’ Rights Charter.

Duties:

• Provide basic nursing care by helping patients with daily activities, such as maintaining hygiene, nutrition, sleep, and recording vital signs.
• Assist with preparing patients for diagnostic, surgical, or other medical procedures. Escort patients to clinical procedures. Join health education groups and multi-disciplinary team programs as directed by the supervisor.
• Maintain professional conduct according to the Public Service Code of Conduct and SANC guidelines. Attend in-service training and self-development courses. Participate in hospital committees when needed. Report and record activities as per nursing prescriptions.
