Experience

• Appropriate experience in a health environment.

Minimum Educational Qualification

• General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) Grade 9 (Std. 7) and Food Certificate.

Duties (Key Result Areas/Outputs)

• Help create and manage plans for food services. Give input into strategic and operational plans.
• Manage daily food services. Prepare and distribute normal, therapeutic diets, and milk feeds to wards. Follow standard procedures and policies.
• Ensure quality and safety in food services. Monitor food preparation, equipment, and hygiene. Check for risks.
• Manage staff. Complete performance reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, train subordinates, hold staff meetings, and handle discipline.
• Handle finances. Order stock, use computer systems for procurement and costing, and complete statistics.

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills)

• Good organizing and supervisory skills to manage the food service team effectively.
• Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and food safety principles.
• Understanding of therapeutic diets, food theory, preparation, cooking methods, production, quality, and portion control using standard recipes in a large-scale food service unit.
• Computer skills (MS Word and Excel), writing, and numerical abilities.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work independently and in a team.
