Job Purpose
To offer technical expertise in custom development and help make strategic decisions with related development plans. This role involves implementing ongoing improvements to support the full software application life cycle. It includes providing solutions, ensuring best practices for integration, and supporting operational rollout to meet SAP Development goals.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Information Technology fields such as IT, Computer Science, B-Com, Finance, Management, or Engineering, plus 8-10 years’ experience in a SAP Development environment. This includes 3-4 years at a junior specialist level.
Alternative
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 15 years’ experience in a SAP Development environment, including 4-3 years at junior specialist level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of key integration points between SAP modules.
- Relevant SAP development or integration analysis and development experience. Strong background in SAP programming.
- Basic understanding of overall business ERP system landscapes, including data flows and internal/external integration.
- Understanding of SAP tables and data structures is desired. SAP Procurement Configuration Skills.
- Relevant training and/or certification in SAP ABAP, SAP BRF, SAP PI/PO, and SAP WF.
Job Outputs
Process
- Act as a liaison with clients for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze, and solve critical SAP functional and application problems. Map client business requirements, processes, and objectives. Develop necessary product modifications to meet client needs.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to specialist systems, procedures, policies, and practices.
- Analyze and review requirements, perform configuration and testing in various SAP modules, such as Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Security, Revenue Management, Governance and Application Lifecycle Management, and Cloud Solutions.
- Maintain close communication with functional teams and designers. Understand requirements from functional designs and turn them into technical designs.
- Contribute to high productivity and motivation in the team using communication skills and cooperation. Help achieve project aims and outputs.
- Contribute to the optimal use of organizational resources. Advise on effective planning and development of resource plans for your area of specialization.
- Develop a single practice area in line with operational activities and procedural frameworks. Ensure tactical implementation.
- Draw on your technical or professional expertise, knowledge, and experience to identify and recommend tactical solutions to defined problems.
- Ensure proper testing is completed and documentation exists to support new or modified applications in production. Address any documentation gaps.
- Resolve incidents for Severity 1 and 2 issues and assist with business escalations.
- Integrate business information, compare, analyze, and produce reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and inconsistencies for decision-making.
- Optimize goal achievement through tactical strategy implementation and improvement of practices, processes, and systems across an internal value chain.
- Perform complex tasks and provide guidance during implementation, maintenance, and support of various SAP modules to improve business functionality and performance while keeping customers satisfied.
- Plan for value-added, continuous practice and system improvements to meet objectives and enhance tactical implementation and excellence.
- Plan maintenance of current system solutions for various SAP modules, such as Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Security, Revenue Management, Governance and Application Lifecycle Management, and Cloud Solutions.
- Proactively identify interconnected problems, assess their impact, and develop best-fit alternatives and implementation solutions based on best practices.
- Provide expert knowledge of industry best practices and recommend changes to optimize processes, systems, policies, and procedures. Execute the implementation of change and innovation.
