Core Purpose of Job
The main goal of this role is to carry out building and engineering maintenance work and services for all university buildings on every campus. This must follow the Health and Safety Act, as well as university policies and procedures.
Key Performance Areas
- Complete all work requisitions and job cards every day.
- Finish all building and engineering maintenance tasks and services daily.
- Perform preventative maintenance by regularly inspecting buildings.
- Keep records and manage tools and machines for carpentry services.
- Work on your own and handle all standby-related tasks.
Core Competencies
- Strong knowledge of university buildings and services infrastructure.
- Understanding of Health and Safety Act rules on chemical gases, machinery, scaffolding, ladders, and more.
- Skills in supervising staff.
- Ability to read, write, and calculate technical data.
- Good skills in maintenance work.
- Knowledge of building plans and specifications.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- N2 Qualification or Technical Grade 12.
- Accredited Trade Certificate (preferable in Mechanical or related field).
- 3 years of relevant experience in general maintenance.
- Unendorsed Category B driver’s license.
