Job Description

The Dis-Chem Pharmacy at Lenz Quarter is seeking a Frontshop Assistant to maintain proper merchandising in line with company policies and procedures. This role ensures effective stock management and customer service.

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 0 – 6 months of retail work experience

Advantageous Qualifications

  • 1 year of work experience in retail

Key Responsibilities

  • Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.
  • Store and pack delivered stock or items from the storeroom in the correct locations immediately.
  • Monitor shelf stock to ensure it is not past its sell-by date and follow the first-in, first-out (FIFO) principle.
  • Keep full product ranges on shelves at all times.
  • Rotate stock regularly and follow company stock control procedures.
  • Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
  • Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
  • Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis continuously.
  • Assist with cycle counts and general stocktaking.
  • Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area for security check.
  • Identify and report damaged or expired stock to management right away.
  • Uphold company merchandising policies and procedures.
  • Follow store operating standards, layouts, and merchandising guidelines.
  • Keep front shop shelves and products neatly presented and visible.
  • Ensure labels and pricing are accurate at all times.
  • Report price discrepancies to management.
  • Stay informed about new products and maintain current product knowledge.
  • Manage restocking of merchandise and supplies to support sales.
  • Build, face, stock, and maintain merchandising displays according to procedures.
  • Keep the store and displays in good condition daily, and manage your assigned stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor.
  • Help with loading and off-loading stock when required.
  • Clearly mark items without barcodes.
  • Be ready to assist with backroom tasks as needed.
  • Handle all merchandise carefully to avoid losses.
  • Offer friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to customers.
  • Follow up on all customer queries about out-of-stock items.
  • Resolve customer stock queries promptly.
  • Wear the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
  • Help train new and existing team members.
  • Report any bad or suspicious behavior from staff or customers to management.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and keep your workstation clean and tidy.
  • Follow company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Comply with company uniform and personal appearance guidelines.
