Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID)
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), formerly known as the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD), is a South African government department. It investigates complaints against the South African Police Service and municipal police services. IPID was established in April 1997 as part of the post-apartheid reforms.
