Job Description

Purpose: The purpose of this job is to deliver exceptional customer service so that external and internal customers are satisfied, including delivery and transfer drivers. This is achieved by offering friendly service, keeping the environment clean and tidy, and accurately loading all customers’ purchased products. The goal is to ensure the yard runs efficiently to prevent stock losses or dissatisfied customers, encouraging them to return and boosting sales and profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading customers’ vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks promptly and accurately
  • Ensuring stock is properly stacked and counted
  • Assisting with pulling stock for transfers
  • Reporting stock shortages
  • Reporting stock breakages
  • Maintaining tidiness and cleaning the area by sweeping and upholding good housekeeping
  • Assisting customers with excellent service and product knowledge
  • Bagging stone or sand
  • Participating in perpetual stocktakes
  • Ensuring housekeeping of work area
  • Performing any work-related tasks as delegated by your superior

Requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent
  • 1 year minimum experience in a similar role (preferred)
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Ability to numerically count stock
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Be disciplined and motivated
  • Ability to handle pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal)
  • Physical fitness and stamina
