Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain good relationships with staff and service providers.
  • Know the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Lift patients or deceased individuals from or onto beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, and to the mortuary.
  • Help walking patients and safely move non-walking patients in wheelchairs or on bed trolleys between departments and wards.
  • Assist nursing and medical staff with moving patients to beds or wheelchairs and back.
  • Help move medical equipment between rooms.
  • Report any issues with trolleys or wheelchairs to your supervisor.
  • Answer calls from wards and departments.
  • Keep the work area safe and clean, and collect and clean equipment.
  • Safely transport and store deceased individuals in the mortuary.

Requirements:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts and weekends.
  • Candidates may need to complete a practical exercise.
  • No payment is required to apply for this job.

Salary: R 138 486 per year, plus benefits such as a 13th cheque, employer’s pension fund contribution, housing allowance, and medical aid allowance.
