Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and report all nuclear medicine studies and procedures, including therapy.
  • Work with a team of hospital clinicians to improve patient services.
  • Understand and follow relevant laws, hospital procedures, and policies.
  • Use excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Participate in remunerated overtime and collaborate with the Stellenbosch University Node for Infection Imaging (NII).
  • Provide clinical image reporting and therapy services in all areas of nuclear medicine.
  • Maintain high standards of quality care in nuclear medicine services.
  • Guide staff, teach, train, and supervise team members.
  • Use resources efficiently, including managing assets, consumables, and services.
  • Take part in teaching programs, tutorials, and assessments for student training.
  • Conduct your own research and supervise research projects.
  • Commuted overtime is required, along with emergency and after-hours call cover.

Requirements

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Grade 2: At least 5 years of appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration (or equivalent for foreign-qualified candidates).
  • Grade 3: At least 10 years of appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration (or equivalent for foreign-qualified candidates).

Salary

Grade 1: R 1 341 855 per annum
Grade 2: R 1 531 032 per annum
Grade 3: R 1 773 222 per annum
