Key Requirements

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience in Radiography (Diagnostic) after HPCSA registration.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo a practical assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Work 40 hours per week, including after-hours services as required by the department. This includes 24-hour on-call duties and covering shifts as determined by radiography management.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of theatre screening in the department, office, and after hours. Deliver professional services to all patients and produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Train staff and students in your area. Manage the radiography cost centre and support personnel, including performance appraisals.
  • Handle quality assurance, equipment care, and radiation protection at all times. Work with vendors on equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in middle management tasks, such as compiling statistics and attending meetings.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of radiation protection, radiographic techniques, quality assurance, and equipment safety.
  • Ability to supervise and organize a unit.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills, plus knowledge of the Staff Performance Management System (PERMIS).
  • Familiarity with Patient Archiving and Communication Systems, Radiology Information Systems, and Health Information Systems.
  • Ability to manage departmental statistics and supervise theatre screening.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Managerial experience and skills.

Salary: R 575 250 per annum – R 638 856 per annum, plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
