Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Diagnostic Radiography after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiation protection, quality assurance, and equipment safety.
  • Full competency in advanced CT scanning and working independently.
  • Full competency in MRI and working independently.
  • Competency in Cath Lab is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of paediatric protocols.
  • Computer literacy in MS Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills, and knowledge of the Staff Performance Management System.
  • Good organizational, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and a strong commitment to high service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the radiographic service in the Trauma Unit.
  • Perform general radiography, fluoroscopy, mobile radiography, theatre radiography, and Lodox.
  • Perform advanced CT imaging as needed by the department.
  • Perform MRI independently.
  • Provide training and teaching to staff and students.
  • Manage radiography and support personnel, including performance appraisals.
  • Ensure quality assurance in the department for all modalities and promote radiation protection.
  • Work with vendors on equipment maintenance for all modalities.
  • Provide statistics and reports on daily activities and equipment status.
  • Work with paediatric patients and those with acute medical conditions.
  • Be willing to rotate through Trauma and MRI areas.
  • Participate in the department’s 24-hour service.

Salary

Grade 1: R 575 250 per annum, plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
