Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) Grade 1 to 3 (2 Posts) – Vredenburg Hospital

Key Responsibilities:
- Control pharmaceutical stock effectively.
- Provide effective pharmaceutical care, including dispensing in the Chronic Dispensing Unit within the sub-district.
- Assist with collecting pharmacy data and record-keeping.
- Promote and support optimal pharmaceutical advisory services with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ensure high-quality health services.
Requirements:
- A qualification that allows registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) Institutional or as required by the training facility.
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of national and provincial health policies, Medicines Act 101 of 1965, Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974, and Public Finance Management Act.
- Clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge, including the JAC/WellSky dispensing system.
- Skills in time management, strategic planning, and prioritizing tasks.
- Registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) Institutional or Post-Basic.
- A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
- Willingness to perform regular after-hours duties.
Experience Levels:
- Grade 1: No experience required after registration with the SAPC.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as a Pharmacist Assistant after registration with the SAPC.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 13 years’ appropriate experience as a Pharmacist Assistant after registration with the SAPC.
Additional Notes:
- Shortlisted candidates will undergo a practical test and/or competency test.
- No payment is required when applying for this post.
- Candidates without the required registration can apply but must provide proof of application for registration and payment of fees before the interview.
Salary:
- Grade 1: R 264 750 – R 298 482 per annum
- Grade 2: R 306 411 – R 324 117 per annum
- Grade 3: R 330 540 – R 375 381 per annum
Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing, and medical aid allowance).
