- A basic R425 qualification, such as a diploma or degree in nursing, or an equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- A post-basic nursing qualification of at least one year, accredited by the SANC in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (R48).
- Candidates without the required registration can apply, but must provide proof of application for registration and payment of fees by the interview date.
- This applies to first-time applicants for the R48 qualification. Successful candidates may be considered for other similar posts in the Chief Director: Metro Health Services for three months from the advert date. Applicants will undergo written, practical, and oral assessments.
- For Grade 1: At least 4 years of appropriate nursing experience after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- For Grade 2: At least 14 years of appropriate nursing experience after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing, with at least 10 years in the specific specialty after the one-year post-basic R48 qualification.
- Knowledge of nursing education, training, the Nursing Code of Ethics, SANC standards, and scope of practice. Ability to use computers, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Key duties include: Providing clinical nursing care within scope and standards; Planning and implementing health promotion and prevention activities; Linking with community groups and non-profits; Collecting data and submitting reports on time; Managing human and equipment resources.
- Ensuring effective administration; Facilitating clinical teaching, training, and health education; Delivering effective clinical services; Participating in research.
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Willingness to work overtime, shifts (including nights, weekends, and public holidays), and rotate within the hospital when needed.
- Salary: Grade 1 – R476,367 per year; Grade 2 – R583,989 per year, plus benefits like a 13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing, and medical aid allowance.
