Requirements

  • Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with Mathematics and/or Accountancy as a passed subject, or Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with experience that matches the key duties of the role.
  • Relevant experience in a hospital and patient fees setting.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills, especially in MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Uniform Patient Fees Schedule (UPFS), Hospital Memorandum 18, and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Knowledge of Clinicom and AR systems.
  • Willingness to work overtime and cover shifts in the Admissions section.

Duties

  • Handle billing for in-patients, ensuring hospital bills for medical aids, road accident fund, and private patients are correct.
  • Provide billing services for out-patients.
  • Follow up on procedures and release invoices.
  • Support patient administration by printing reports to track out-patients from state departments, WCA, RAF, H2, H3, medical aids, and private doctors who are admitted or discharged.
  • Work with relevant teams on patient administration, hospital fees, and case management.
